how do you tune L37. On mine it just a coil wire with about 5 turns. Do you spread them Just wondering. It will only swing a max watts of 5 maybe 6 watts. No modd done. Radio has been peaked. Just trying to figure out how to tune that coil. Thanks

Yes, you spread the coil. I have never seen the need to spread the coil, but to each his own!!!!

like harve says, don't touch that coil! are you using a peak meter, or average meter? 6 watts of swing sounds like a stock radio measured on an rms or average meter. search this site for some of the grant xl/cobra 2000 mods by kid vicious or me & do them to your 148....they're the same radios-assuming it's NOT a soundtracker model & uses an mb8719 pll ic. you don't have to do any of the 'crazy' mods, even a simple 'peak & tune' should get you to 15 watts PEP.
