Contact RangerUSA, they should be able to help. I'm not clued up on them but if they are related to the rest of the RCI range it will need an E Module. Ranger should be able to sell you one. Actually the E module comes with the radio so i'm only summising that you bought the radio 2nd hand? If you bought it from Copper they install the module as part of their expand align and tune option. They did with my 2970DX....and a top job they did. CEFFFCEF Bob CEF703/CVC26

Nowurtalkin, how many watts are you getting out of that thing on AM & on FM - Dead Key and PEP??? Guessing with a MOD it will do 11 meter. Don't talk much Side Band in my vehicle so may not be a bad option for something I wouldn't need to add some help to so I can reach out and phone home ya know. Thanks in advance. Sinker CEF-634

the new rci radios are based on the design of the 6300/6900 radios. i have yet to see one, but based on price, i certainly will never buy one! $400+ for the 150 watt 6900 is...bad enough, but $500+ and UP for the 63/69ffc radios??? that is sheer lunacy, for a cb! OK so AM xmit isn't the loudest, but you can find plenty of used ic706, ft100, ft857, th70, ts50, etc for LESS then the 63ffc4 and even the 69ffc2! the 'E' module is for the 2950/2970 radios. i don't know how these new ones mod, but based on ranger usa telling me that 'they are essentially the same radio, with same frequency coverage as the 6300/6900', i wonder if the mod isn't the same, or close to it? they told me that as a 10m radio, it covers 10m out of the box. i said the 6900 covers 12m too. they said as a 10m radio, it covers 10m out of the box. i said you told me it is essentially the same radio as the 6900 & it covers 10 & 12m. they said 'correct'. i said so how do i get the 69ffc2 to cover 10 & 12m? they said as a 10m radio it covers 10m out of the box. i said i am a general class licensed amateur radio operator & wish to use this radio on 12 meters. they said it is essentially the same as the 6900 & as a 10 meter radio covers 10m out of the box. this went on for 10 minutes. if somebody owns one, i'd look & see if the mod might be the same as the 6900. if somebody KNOWS the mod for the 69ffc2, i'd sure love to hear it . |
