update The reason I believe that it is modifiable is because there is a disclaimer on the back that reads (Modification of this device to recieve Cellular phone signals is against the law), now usually scanners that are not modifiable would not have a disclaimer but this one does, may not necesarily mean anything but it makes me wonder what I can do with this radio...73's

IF it was made after 1994 BY LAW it cannot be modifiable before that it can.

I did not find this on any list. I did find a basic review but it did not state if it could be modified.

Thanx Bruce, I appreciate the info, I'm really not sure when it was manufactured, I'm mostly interested in picking up the band between 6 and 10 meter but i'm not sure if that would even be one of the mods, either way it is still a really good scanner pretty sensitive reciever but nevertheless I appreciate you time to respond, thanx alot and 73's

Ok guys I ditched the 80xlt and sprung for a good used, Pro 2006, this scanner is already opened up for most the Frequencies I believe, however the backlight in this thing is so dim its almost not even on, and when I push the switch it shuts off completely, would like to brighten this thing up or even put a different light in there, would also love any other modifications that this radio is capable of, thanks.
