High swr with amp off. 1.5 to 1 with amp on? Cant adjust antenna any more, mobile k40 False reading?
how can i bring down the swr? I put a ground strap on and nothing!

need more info
how many watts total
did ya check swr before installing amp if yes
what was your swr
did you know theres a capasister in the k40s and
handle only little.
whats your swr curve ch.1 then ch.40

As dale said very lil wattage handling in K40. I had a friend who had a small palamaor and had flames from the K40. Is it a mag mount, trunk mount, mirror mount, etc.. Are you using external meter's or the one in the radio. Are you checking SWR in an open area doors closed, High tension line's. Also how much of a patch cord did you use from radio to amp, Amp to anntena. we need a lil more info on the enviorment of usage. Also adding a ground strap can be benafical but as with anything you can have too much. EXMPLE i run more than most people will addmit to so i aint admiting nothing but when i first did the truck i have now i keeped getting mike bite and i said to my self now way is it a ground issue, well it was ground i had a ground strap that was over 3' long, it was longer by 1.5' from the other straps so i shortin it and mike bite was gone AND SWR CAME DOWN. so there are many factors ...

that coil might need to be above the roofline.
i know on my wilsons ive used 15yrs i always had
better swrs when mounted on roof
