I have seen the clarifier mod for the washington with a mb879 pll but I can't figure it out because it talks about the two wires coming from the knob but mine has three. Can someone clarify this? Has anyone done this mod?

Cdshot12,

Greetings from Lancaster...

Here's the info I have on it. I have never done this mod on this radio.

(1) Locate and cut one end of R187, and D36.

(2) Locate the red and orange wires coming from the clarifier control.

(3) Follow the red wire from the clarifier control to where it connects on the board and cut it loose.

(4) Resolder the end of the red wire you cut off the board to pin 3 of the MB3756 IC Regulator. (If the wire is to short add a length to make it reach)

(5) Follow the orange wire from the clarifier control to where it connects on the board and cut it loose also.

(6) Resolder the end of the orange wire you cut off the board to circuit board ground.

You should have 4 KHz down and 1 KHz up slide.

(NOTE) Some units require the red and orange wires to be reversed in order for this mod to work.
