I am trying to build the linear from this web page http://www.cbtricks.com/pub/secret_cb/index.htm Volume 3 page 66 and i cant find where to buy variable capacitors also not really sure how to wind the wire on the coils it shows. cant find the transistor in the middle of schematic ECG317 either do any of you know a good replacement for it.

ecg-317 70w Rf-50f 3 watts drive (similar mount as rf-38f)(sk9603)

ECG was bought out by NTE so you are actually looking for a NTE317
Even then, with everybody moving away from older (outdated) designs it's going to be hard to find even on E-Bay. everybody is moving to either Modules or MosFets.

The transistors are available through digikey but they are almost $60 each.
Would be much cheaper to just order an amp than to risk blowing a pair of those transistors when you are unsure of exactly what you are doing.
