Which crystal/crystals do I need to swap out to change freq on this radio? I have a crystal box coming and want to keep the current 23 channels and add the crystals to get to 40ish.

I know there are two sets of mixers, but can I just change the carrier oscillator freq (7.8025)easily?

I believe you will have to work with the 8 meg crystals in that radio to add channels, And you will just get 4 new channels for each new crystal. The reason is the way it mixes for sideband. Of course if you've got a 7 meg crystal a little different from the original it sure wouldn't hurt to try it.

The Cobra 132 & 135 had a 12.800 crystal that could be swapped and get 23 new channels but they were set up different. Good luck with your project.

I got the clairafier to swing 10 kc's down by turning one adjustment on my Cobra 138. A very heavy Japan made radio!
