Hi guys, I really need some help here. I got a dx959 and trying to put an astatic echo board into a project box. Inside the project box I have a mic cord going through the box so that I plug the box into the radio. The instructions say to take the audio wire off the mic plug inside the radio so I took the audio wire off of the plug that would connect to the radio. Then I took the wire that I took off and put the audio out wire from the echo board and connected them together. I took the 2 ground wires and connected them to the main ground.
If I run a wire inside the radio I do not see any wires going to the main mic plug inside the radio. I do see the wires for mic, ptt, ground but nothing to the mic plug. Did I do something wrong? |

if you are using a external box you do not need to do anything inside the radio.do it all inside the box.you will need power to the box to make the echo work |

need to say what you have done.the 1st post you did looks as if you did something in side the radio.
what did you do inside the radio?
what echo board are you installing.
some echo boards have a gain on the echo to adjust if you have a noise like you are saying.
nothing should have been touched inside the radio.
on the box you are making the plug your mike hooks to should have the audio from the echo hooked up to the external plug then the wire out of the echo should hook to the plug going to the radio.
again nothing should be touched inside the radio as your 1st post sounds |

nothing was touched inside the radio, I just looked inside of it. Its all in the box. As far as to what I did I took the Audio in wire from the board to the where you plug the mic into. Then I took the audio out wire from the board and connected it to the audio wire that I took off the in coming mic plug. I ran the ground wires for the audio in and out to the ground from the board.
The echo board is a astatic echo which I got from copper. And again, I did not do anything inside the radio but look. |

can you post a pic of the echo instructions.I could not find one.did you hook the power ground up to the 12 volt in and not to the mic plug.get these crossed and it acts up also |

I have not used astatic in years but believe it has to have the voltage at about 8 or 9 volts.if you have it on the full 13 volts will cause it to act up also. |

you should have a braided wire that goes to the ground in the mic socket and you have a ground wire that is ground for the power plug .do not connect them together.and use about 8 to 9 volts.if you have to put a resister in the hot wire lead to drop the voltage if the board calls for a lower voltage |

Sorry for the delay, but here is the instructions that I got with the board.
I went back into the box and redid the wiring, I placed the audio in wire from the echo board and wired it with the audio wire on the incoming mic plug. I was gonna run the audio out wire to the the audio wire on the plug going to the radio. Now is this right? Should I wire it with the audio wires? To me it would make sense to wire the audio wires from the echo board to the audio wire on the the incoming and outbound sides

imho.. i would just buy a extreme 2018 they sound
great very clean and full sounding. couple locals here use them and even with echeo off i couldnt believe it was a echeo mike.im not a echeo user myself ,but this is my opinion
