I have been playing with my 18rv, and I really like the radio, the weather channels are a plus too. Where I live, tri-axle trucks run by the dozens, so radio traffic is extremely heavy 24 hrs a day, and being able to thin it out really helps. I have several other radios I could use, but I like this one because of the weather channels, and it fits perfect in-dash. I run this particular radio in my Explorer, so it sees a lot of airtime. I already changed the mic jack to a 4 pin, and would like to improve this with rf gain and whatever else I can do to improve the sound quality, and lower background noise if possible. This radio isn't worth much, and is really low-end, but it does work well.
Thanks

Take a look at Copper's main page under:

page-2 get a power cord with filter - then
page-3 take a look at the Diesel CB Noise Suppressor

Define background noise? Are you talking about interference like ignition noise, etc, or just normal atmospheric and component noise?

Yes electronic components can create their own noise.

Thanks for the reply. I was trying to quiet the S/N ratio a little bit.
