thanks, I just got the email from them on it a few hours ago. the same look of the Jackson I was hoping for some more info as to what board and finals is in it. since it has 6 bands it may be like the jacksonII. I would hope it does not have the mrf477 final in it. |

since someone has bought it what board and finals are in it. does it have a freq counter plug on the back as a lot of the ranger and Galaxy radios have.
thinking about buying 2 of them at least if I can find some thing out about them. |

just cut the red wire jumper that is on the solder side of the board, working good so far |

UPDATE:
just de-soldered the end 2 pads that the red jumper was hooked too and all bands now work fine!!!
so the complete 11m mod is:
1. remove red jumper
2. de-solder end bridge that the red jumper is connected to |

if you want to wake this radio up some so it is better on AM there is a easy mod to help it out.
leave the limiter in tack .
remove the 103 capacitor from the legs of TR36
solder a jumper to the cathode of D55, banded end.
solder the other end to the base of TR36 which is the leg closest to the rear of the radio
on mine it will dead key 2 watts on am and swing to 30 watts with a strong audio or whistle.
the radio is a lot louder on am now.
average watts while just normal talking is about 12 watts |

also if you lift R179 out of circuit will give a little more swing and modulation.
this is a controlled carrier type mod to help the radio wake up on am some. sure made a difference on mine and a couple others that have done this mod. |

did anyone here try the controlled carrier mod to the superstar JA. I bought one and the mod works great on it also and the same as my president jackson. the controlled carrier mod increases swing a lot.this mod has been around for years but was lost when a lot of forums shut down in the early 2000's. |
