Hey everyone,
I'm new to the cb world and of course I'm hooked I wanna know what are good mods to do to my radio there are some hills around my area and wanting to know how to get out a little further.
The radio as the title says is a new Stryker 955hp it was peaked and tuned by a well known shop in the area with coax and antenna install and I put a ranger mic on the radio
Me and a friend with a general lee talked and It seems we could only talk about 3-4 miles tops we want to know how to get out a little further linears or what ever I'm not real smart on all the radio stuff but I'm here to learn.

your antenna will be the biggest factor if you are talking mobile. on my setup I have a little trc-453 radio in my pickup with a K40 4 ft flex whip as K40 calls it and I have hills around me and I talk 20 miles when the skip is not running.

on the wilsons [both of yours]. make sure your
antenna is straight up not tilted. also
must get coil ABOVE the roofline of your cab.
you,ll need atleast a 10 inch shaft.

ok when you were doing this did you try to
lenthen or shorten the whip part of antenna, this is a must.also what channel read a 2.2 swr???
wheres this antenna mounted???if your swr is
high on all 40 channels you got other issues.
usually you check ch. 1 and 40. normally one channel
WILL BE a little higher than the other. example
channel 1 swr 1.5
channel40 swr 1.8
in this case you would put whip lower into shaft
to try to balance it out.if the oppisite occurs you went too far on whip.
now if swr is oppisite from above example
example 1.8 on ch.1
and 1.5 on ch. 40 in this case you,d lenthen the antenna whip or pull it out a little from shaft
if this sounds confusing [it does to me] then go to you tube and type in how to use a swr meter
cbradiomagizine has a nice video on this.
im also in P.A northwest coner.
