My Ranger 6900 F 150 has one hell of a touchy coarse tune RIT. A touch in one direction makes it jump past center frequency. I have looked around for a mod for this problem. Tonight another operator told me about a 10 Turn Potentiometer used in place of the one being used in the radio now. It takes 10 turns to move the 20K ohms that now take 1 turn to do. Anybody know anything about this mod. I don't have any problem with doing the mod. Just want to know if anyone else has experience with this type of mod. |

that mod isnt any good.seems the more you unlock them the more they drift. what you need is what they call [marry] the course and fine then you just use the fine as this will slide the tx and rx at same time dale/a.k.a.hotrod cef426 cvc#64 454 [dx numbers] 38lsb

Had a 10 turn pot in a radio years back. Try finding center in a hurry, the pits. used it for about a week and took it out. Anything over 5kc of slide is a waste. I prefer even less than that on a clarifier, more stable. 73 Pressman

Hey guys. Just found my old post after asking the same question. I don't want to loose the use of the fine tune to move the receive around. I appreciate the info on the pot too. My question is how can I do the mod I want and still be able to change back the radio when I am done. I was considering cutting the foils to the stock pot then if I need to put it back in use just use some jumpers. Also not after more than 5 kc's of slide just want to get that with a bit less fussing with the knob. Here is a photo of the pot I have for the upgrade. |
