I have a 1998 Cobra 25 WX ST and I would like to peak and tune my radio but everything that I find is for the NW model. can anyone help? I don't want to screw up my radio.

I have read several request for mod's for the RANGER rci2970N2, I can only relate my experience's...I own 2 of these units bought from Copper Elec, modified and tuned before shipping...
After abt 6 months the second unit's display started shuting off. Sent to RSS as listed in Coppers back page. Chip replaced the complete CPU under warranty. I expressed a desire for more power and Chip replaced the mosfets PA with the PA unit from a 6900FF4 which uses the 2SC2879 pill trans. Delivering 300watta AM/FM and 450watts SSB.
He resealed the unit and returned freight NC& with remaining warranty honored...
Now the warranty is out and I am going to make some popular mod's easily found on the internet describing how to control Talk Back and other mods using the front panel buttons W/O drilling holes all over the chassis...
To begin with I am replacing D34 & D35 with SK9975/ECG-583 and cut d115 for more clarity on rec.
As a power improvement in the 2070transceiver I am replacing the 2SB754 power controller with the 80watt 2SB688... I am installing a spst sw in line with the Brown wire controlling the Pawer amp to turn it off when talking local... I am also converting the AM to Suppressed Carrier mode which gives 8 watt dead key & swing fully to 200watts... Sounds like 400watt base from a mobile w/H40 trunk mount... More later if anyone is interested...73's

I do not understand what the "Ranger rci297ON2" has to do with my Cobra.

He might have made the post in error. For your question I think both radio's you had mention use the same board. Your radio just has the extra weather board. Get a regular picture or radio that does not have the weather and compare the two. I think the mod's would work.
