I have a predator 225, hooked up to an old am base that i use for testing. With amp off swr 1.3, when on it goes off the scale. It's puting out 80 watts with good mod and it gets down the road. Why would the swr change that much. I hooked up my old Digetal Sports Systems amp, don't know what watts it is. puts out around 80 watts and swr is 1.5. Why does this change. Any information out there.

you have to recalibrate your swr meter when you check it with the amp on

DID ALL OF THAT, BUT STILL WENT OFF THE METER. THIS AMP WHICH IS A PREDATOR 225 WAS GIVEN TO ME 10 YEARS AGO. IT HAS ALL THE LIGHTS AND SWITCHES, BUT UDER THE NAME IT HAS 80-15 METER. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN.

that means it needs to be modified for 11 meter,80 through 15meter is ham frequencys. thats why you get a high swr as for converting it ask 307.
