With a Galaxy 66 driving @ 14.5v (typical of late model vehicles) you should achieve an easy 400w. Supply it with at least 8ga wire and 50a fuse.
If you intend to run an external pre-amp, it would need to go between the radio and amp.

I got me a watt meter and hooked it to my setup and it showed a 50 watt deadkey with a 225 watt swing.I hooked up every thing the way it's supposed to be,used the 8 gauge wire, run the hot wire for both the radio and amp to the + on battery and the grounds to - on battery and still the x-force 200 will only go 225 watts swing. Is their some thing that I'm doing wrong that would cause a lose of watts? Looking for a answer....Can anyone help me????///

What type meter, what is your radio's output, what antenna, and what is your swr?

Warlock-Meter is a syncron swr-2001nls that I got from copper. It's in the catalog.Radio output is 2 watt deadkey on low 10 on high with a 23 watt
swing.Antenna is a monkey made mm-9 and swr is 1.2
I stopped by copper on Fri. to get a Astatic 600 meter but I let the guy at the counter talk me into getting the syncron meter.I don't like this meter it does'nt have a modulation meter.Monday I plan to return it and get the Astatic meter.

I wouldn't jump so fast for the Astatic meter.
The Syncron meters are definately bang for the buck. I don't find modulation meters so necessary when I see good forward movement from the power meter.
Back to your dilemna....
The Syncron is an avg reading meter, nearly RMS reading on some scales, but not peak. Set your radio so that your 200 on hi will have a 125w carrier, and believe me you will be getting 400+ although your meter will show around 225-250.

Hey Warlock! That's exactly what it's doing. With the amp on low power it has around 55 watt dead key and swings about 200 and on high power it shows a 125 dead key and 225 swing. The jumper cable from meter to amp is 9ft.and so is the one from the amp to radio. Will that affect my power or SWR's?They have to be that long because of where I had to set them up.Limited space in truck.
Why I've got your attention can you answer another question for me?I use a Astatic 636 N/C mic and I was thinking of getting a Astatic Road Devil power mic. Will this mic improve the sound of my radio?Would it be a better match for the setup I'm running or would it cause alot of feedback?Warlock, thanks for all the info. you have offered so far.Looking forward to reading your response to my lasted tyraid....Westwindwizard

Jumpers.....
The builder recommends 12' jumpers. I have used different lengths and thay have worked, but 12 on either side of the radio is recommended.

Mikes..... answered in your other post.

Squeals..... In some vehicles it may be necessary to ground the amp chassis to the frame, and even the vehicle body to the frame.

This may change soon but at this time all the amps Copper sells are converted free of charge before shipment.
