I know that the Cherokee CM-10 is basically a Maycom EM-27 - hell Maycom's name is even printed on the board of my CM-10. I was able to do the channel conversion for this radio, and now I found the following URL

http://www.cbrepairs.com/mods/m-p/m-3000.htm

This page is referring to a Zodiac M-3000/Maycom EM-27..

What I am looking at specifically is the 600 AM/FM area on the left towards the bottom. I currently have the 600 AM going, but it would be great to have the FM capability too.

Here's the question - is the Cherokee CM-10 nothing more than a Maycom EM-27 that has had some of it's functionality disabled and has what it takes to run FM mode?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Let me jmup in on the wagon as well with a similar question. My Midland 79-290 shows a FM mode when toggling through the different modes (AM-USB-LSB SINCE I DID THE CHANNEL MOD.) It receives and transmits on AM though, even when the indicator shows FM. I, like Jwhipple, believe that there is simply a part of my radio disabled to be accepted by the FCC for use in our country. Since it also has the 10 meter band, I figured that it may very well have a frequency discriminator in it, but it is bypassed. Or I could be completely wrong. Any info would be appcd!!
Thanx Guys,
Dan
