dont you have to buy the books from them though? id rather not spend money on plans for something that might not even work.

yeah, you're right, these plans and board layout has been around since the 70's so they may need a little more time b4 they can be called dependable.(i'm just cutting up, don't take me serious)

you just can't go by a schem and make an amp. well, you may but if it works well you are lucky. they need to have a 'planned' layout. rf is funny and stray inductance/capacitance etc can cause havoc in an amp. if you get the cbc plans, they come with a template for the amp layout. all you have to do is 'etch' it onto the pcb. then install parts and you're ready to rock.

now i have never made one of these or any other amp for that matter. i don't have the desire to or the money(i'd rather pay less for a pre-made amp). but if made correctly, i would bet money that they will work and be dependable. if not they wouldn't still be in print.

i have seen quite a few 'home brewed' amps that were plagued with all kinds of problems because of improper layout. so the evidence is there to show that if you don't have the background to design your own amp(or use a schem and make your own layout),then stay with the plans and layouts that are proven. it will cost you less and keep your hair in your head.
