Would anyone know if there's a mod to relpace the 4 8950's in here for something a little cheaper? There also next to impossible to find! Also, I heard that The EL509's would work, but a mod is needed? Thanks guys! |

I dont know how but I know you can go to 6lf6 tubes from the 12 volt 8950's. |

Tubes you can use as replacements by JUST rewiring pins 1 and 12 on each socket are 6LF6, 6KD6, 6LR6. There are some others that require a second or third pin to be fiddled with: 6LX6, 6LB6, 6LZ6, 6JS6.
The EL509 has a totally different socket. Replacing all four sockets raises the ante quite a bit.
