Hi. I have one of those radios that I think is referred to as a Superstar Grant. It looks like your typical President Grant, except that it has a low/mid/high band switch, and am/fm/ssb modes. The modifications for the Superstar 3900 seems to be the same for this radio, right down to the talkback one. But I can't seem to find D75 for the 2-way clarifier mod. I found R135, but not that darn diode! I figured it would be close R135, but the doesn't seem to be the case. I have no schematics to go by either. Can anyone help? Also, would a 5.6uH inductor give it more range? Thanks! |

I already melted the wax. Still not there. If somebody with the same radio can tell me where it is or where it is near that would be great. |

For the Superstar 3900, I show a EPT3600-14 circuit board. No D75 to fool with on this one. First remove D38. It's at the front edge of the circuit board right next to VR21. VR21 is the one visible in this pic. R141 is changed to feed the "Fine" clarifier all the time, rather from the receive-only source as it comes. Here are VR21 and R141. You don't need to remove R141, just unsolder and (gently) pull the the long end lead wire from the hole. There is an empty, unmarked hole in the pc board immediately to the rear of the hole you just pulled the long lead of R141 out of. Clear the solder from that hole. Insert the free end of R141 into this hole, and solder. There are other ways to do the same thing on dozens of radios that use this pc board. This one is the simplest. The fewer things get disturbed, the less chance of accidentally disturbing something you didn't mean to. 73
