Hello, Guys,
Does anyone have information on a HyGain HyRange model 673 23 channel radio? I have one here that has a factory installed 9 pin miniature tube socket on the rear panel that reads "receiver VFO". What type of VFO did this rig take and what output should it have? Two of the pins are jumpered. 2600-can you give me any info? Thanks.

Hi Tombstone,
Been away most of April, just now getting back into the swing of things. That radio was sold BOTH with and without the "receive-only" VFO socket. The VFO only covered up to around 27.3 or so. Pretty exotic for 1975, but it won't even get to channel 40. The radio is wired to select the external VFO for receive only, like the built-in Tram D201 VFO. Rewiring the transmit/receive switching circuits will get it to transmit with the VFO.

I have this vague recollection that the radio was built in two production versions. If you can get the Sams CB volume it will be correct for only one of the two versions. I do remember that the circuit boards were different in the tx/rx switch wiring. I gotta see this radio as long on "cute" and short on usefulness. Kinda like a DAK, but built better.

Thanks guys! I just added a crystal and a nice switch on the front and got my customer four channels below ch.1 and shipped the thing. 2600; yes there were two models, I have the other one in my radio pile without the VFO hookup and a din jack for the mic instead of the four pin type. Can't wait to run my Series II!
