R.E. Uniden Grant LT and Texas Ranger 296:

After hearing so much about how terrific the receiver is in these two radios compared to the Ranger and clone "export" radios, I want to try for myself. I was wondering if either can have frequencies expanded with or without a "kit".

The Uniden Grant can be modified however I think the 296 needs a kit. I may be wrong because I have not seen a 296 for quite some time...

The 296 can be modified with out a kit fella, got to jump the pins out.. After it's done, it give you the same channels as like the cobra 148 has when those are jumped...

You know im thinking there fella's, i cant remember if the grant lt has the wx channel, but i think if the channels were the same and it had weather, i would go with that myself, but if it don't have weather, i would myself prefer to go with the 296...

take care guys..
