I know you've all seen these pieces of on different sites. Some of you may have already gotten it broken off in you by buying one of these. If you haven't already, save your money. If you really want to get rid of your money that bad, use your money the next time you need to wipe your butt, because you will be doing the same thing with it if you buy one of these things. For those of you who may have one already and aren't sure how to hook it up, let me help you. If you bought a "papa mod" for a Galaxy 44, when you received it you found out it didn't really list your radio. But that's ok!, it doesn't matter. There are five wires that need to be hooked up (or so they say). A red, black, and white wire. Just hook these to anything in the radio you can find to hook them to. Heck, just tie them all together with a big blob of solder and hook them straight to a hot wire. It doesn't matter, cause they aren't hooked to anything inside that little ice cube looking thing that they run into. The other two wires are orange and green. It tells you to hook these in R238 slot. Well these two wires should be taken care of. Cause they are the only thing that has anything hooked to them. And it's only a resistor. So if you are like me and paid around $14 bucks for a 2 cent resistor, now you feel stupid. If you have one, take it outside and bust it open with a hammer. You'll see what I'm talking about. You'd be money ahead to get yourself a good Diode and install it instead in the R238 slot. Thanks |

The 1N4001 diode in the R238 slot is a good trick. I've done it to alot of my radios. Some people say not to clip R249, the audio limiter, but I like to. You can also get a 1N4148 diode and bridge it across the two modulators on the solder side of the board. I can't remember the numbers of the slots or I'd post them. The point to this is to increase bias on the driver and final. Some people like to use a 51 ohm resistor with this diode, but I don't. I'll repost this with the exacts later. Either will do the exact same thing. |
