I just picked one up new in the box. It has the EPT690010Z board in it and I did the conversion to it for channels but it skips over all the 11 meter bands. It only has a 3 position switch in it for the bands and a high/low switch which all work. The problem is I cant get to the 11 meter band with the 3 position switch. I think it needs to have a 6 position switch put it giving it 12 bands of 40 like the 6900 radios. Does the RCI-6900 6 pos switch plug right in place of this one? Is it as easy as that or are there more to it.

I had a General Grant...same radio.
It came with the 6 position rotary pot in the box.

I had to remove the face plate to pull the 3 position pot out of it's socket, then you merely plug the 6 position pot into the socket.

I would think the 2960 should have come with the new rotary potentiometer needed for the modification.

There was no soldering required to mod it for full coverage.

Your new RCI 2960 should have come with a 6 position switch to replace the 3 position switch with. Look in the box again and see if you may have missed it.

I have heard that some companys, and especially some truckstops have taken switches and frequency mod-boards out of the boxes so they can sell them as an optional switch or board to make the 10 to 11 meter change-over.

I could be wrong but to the best of my knowledge, I have NEVER received any kind of a 10 meter radio from ANY of my suppliers that was not "ready convertible". In other words, if it takes a special switch or some little board, it is ALWAYS PACKED WITH THE RADIO. Nothing else to buy.

But who knows, maybe when your radio was originally packaged up on the assembly line, they forgot to put your switch in the box. It happens. 73s

well guys,I ordered the 6 pos switch from Ranger and put it in.The kit had a 6 pos sticker in it. I now have all the bands I was looking for including 11 meter. So,what I learned from Ranger is that they aquired all of these radios back from the company that was selling them with the RCI name on them, and when they did they were including or installing the switch and then selling them like that. This might be one that they didnt get back or it was lost somewhere. I am glad to have this radio in my collection. I am a Ranger dealer and have been wanting to get this one. I managed to get it for $200 in the box untouched,100 watt model! Great find I think. Thanks for the help guys.

The 6 position switch will allow use of all bands as long as you did the frequency conversion. If you have any problems with it, you may Email me at kc0gxz@aol.com

I have some great modifications for that board.

Send it again. Put something in the "subject box" of the email that I will reconize. Such as "RCI-6900". If I don't reconize the subject or the person who sent me the Email, it doesn't get opened.

Lets try it again.
