tune up & mods for a midland 77-285 which closely resembles ( on the outside ) the clear channel ar - 2000 I have been asking about earlier this week... |

Modulation: Adjust ~ RV4 or cut one end of R179.
NOTE!
R179 is located just to the left of the Audio Transformer.
AM Power: Adjust ~ L4, L5, L6, L7

wish my computer had picture - sending capacity... this must be the wrong radio... there aint 15 - 20 parts above the circuit board on this thing ( what ever model it is )a couple around the left side of a audio transformer but nothing close to # r-179 ..... ( laughing )... i dunno how this radio even works it just aint got no parts in it...i have seen more parts in an old uniden 510 xl than in this radio, but it does work on all levels..on the other side is a very large ( 3 x 3 inches ) ic chip near the middle of the unit... this is some kind of radio that uses a BIG ic chip to work so no mods can be made ...this is wierd.... must all be controlled by the BIG chip on the flip side..... .the cover says a CLEAR CHANNEL ar - 2000, but the front looks like a midland 77-285....it does LOOK like some one has done a sloppy soldering job on the BACK of the front panel around 2 - 3 solder holes...something was there and has been removed...?? a 3 - position junction was there similer to a ranger 2950 and they took all 3 pins out so it could not be mod back to 10 meters ?? it has a vertical circuit board next to the front panel similer to a ranger 2950 has, and it looks like some one has removed something near 3 pins in a row like a ranger 2950 uses...and they did a very sloppy job or doing it too. !!! |
