I visit a whole lot of modification websites and I thought converting my super star 3900 was going to require some desoldering, but all that was required was a pair of sharp nose scissors.Brand new I removed the top cover and cut four of the tiny resistors (in a spider looking shape)and this made the radio operate from 25.615 to 28.305Mhz.One nice feature I found was that the radio will slide 7kc.up and down from center slot right out of the box on both transmit and recieve.I love this, being the avid sidebander that I am. One negative that I had with the radio was that it was throwing a carier on SSB at first but I adjusted the drive variable resistor and lowered it to where it didn't do it anymore.Well that's it for now,73's and 8's and catch everyone on the radio. hey jerry, wanna get the A channels between 3@4,7@8,11@12,15@16, and 19@20? try this for a 10KHZ switch: find jumpers68 and 69 and wire to a spst switch and you should get a 10kc jump when on. check it out. i did it to my rig and it works real swell. |

Check out the subsriber section and look for the review I did on the 3900. All the mods are there. Steve Tech181 Tech181@copperelectronics.com |
