I did a variable power super modulation mod that worked ok except for the variable power part. The mod told me to use th rf gain nob for the variable power.I have no adjustment 75% of the way up the nob all the adjustment is in the last 25 % of it from 0 to 7 and thats way to touchy. So i figure it had the wrong value nob in it(1k ohm).so i put a 50k in it and it got worse than it was before.so in need to go down in value.Does anyone no what value to use. Also does anyone no if copper sells Texasstar modulator v.I cant find a link thanks reddog

Try a 500 Ohm varible resistor. It will probably spread the range out a little better for you.

Also, I would NEVER recomend using the FR Gain Control knob for ANYTHING other than the RF Gain Control. I lost count how many receivers I have repaired over the years because many people haven't got a clue how to use them when someone with power is close by. Truckers are notorious for that.

The "Delta Tune" knob is a much wiser choice since it is a already-worthless knob on the radio.

i would have used the delta tune nob but this radio has a dimmer in that place for the nw lights.I cant find anything lower than a 1k variable resistor in any of my parts radios.Do you no were i can find one.

Did you try Radio Shack? They have quite a large assortment of varible resistors there.

Way to big? Do you mean they are too big in diameter or are you talking about the length of the shaft?

both.diameter and shaft.I no i could cut the shaft a little but diameter wise it would be touching the dimmer control and dynamic.
