Ive read a lot of posts that say r131 and tr24 is the modulation limiter.Which one is it or are they both?If only one of them is the limiter what does the other do? |

Removing TR24 will increase the AMC but also defeats the ALC control on SSB. Cutting R131 will increase modulation for AM only. A 'cleaner' way of increasing mod is to add about 800ohms in series to the collector (middle)leg of TR24. |

Good post. Another method is do the refined npc mod which I have posted in here. This has tr24 removed but R131 intact with vr12 set to minimum. On a scope you can see a slope-distortion in the waveform with R131 removed and or vr12 set above minimun in conjunction with TR24 removal. You need the whole mod done to make it all come together nicely. Mic gain set at 3 oclock works best with this. cheers |
