I got a 2950 a couple of weeks ago and would like to get every thing i can. Does anyone know of anything. |

Removing D67 can give you talkback. To safely open-up AM modulation, remove R301. To improve receive audio quality, replace R206 (4.7K) with a 470ohm resistor. Rogerbeep tone is controled by R210 and duration is controled by c169. You need parts-layout diagram because these SMT parts numbers are not labled on the board itself. You can open the clarifier and add a super-swing mod but that's more involved... |

Since this is the DX model I will not recomend romoveing any of the micro-chips as stated above.. As you already know when you were inside the radio there isn't much that can be done because of the MICRO-CHIP technology wich is 99% of this radio.. Alot diffrent from the regular 2950's Here is the scoop on the DX!!!!Model

I also put a TRB-1 echo board in mine and it improved the modulation alot....(louder) |

There are places u now can find schemtics of the board... talk back is easy if you can find the coponent to remove... i still recomend a d104 AND the echo board... the echo board apoved it as well as the supper talk kit i put in.. |

This includes schematics and parts layout diagram. http://rangerusa.com/websupport.html All things I stated in my Nov. 20 post are tried-and-true...you just have to get used to surface-mount parts-it's the wave of the future of solid-state.

Hey all, I'm looking for some help here. I've performed the diode-resistor modulation tweak and saw a good increase in loudness, but my peak tx power just isn't getting the results I've seen others speak of(25+ Watts AM tx). I adjusted VR 15 and VR 19 for max output and I'm seeing about 10W dk with a swing to 15W. Can't get any more and was wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if there are other things I need to tweak?
Also, could someone please explain the benefit of the talkback mod? |

You could get a bit more power out but you would defeat the purpose of the NPC modulation mod (to increase modulation while reducing harminic interference) and actually generate harmonics and splatter. The 15 or so Watts peak when swinging from about 1 or 2 Watts, is about right. It is awsome on an amp! As for talkback, It is good if you have an echo board or echo mic, so you can hear how you sound. The talkback mod can be made switchable also. |
