Hello all,
I would like some info on which amp is the better amp? There are quite a few 2100B's floating around for sale around $300, or so, and the kl 1000 amps are around the $500 mark (or more!). I believe the 2100B does around 550-600 watts carrier, what is it's PEP rating? ie the KL 1000 is 700 watts and 1400PEP. Is this the same for the 2100B then? ie 600 and 1200 watts pep?. Also how expensive are the tubes for the 2100B and are there any equivilent other tubes to use for a bit more power? And does the 2100B need any re-adjustment for 11 metres? I know this is alot of questions, but I hope someone has some knowledge in this area!
Cheers
Andrew

Andrew739,

Never had a 2100B so cannot compare them to the KLV1000.

It might be hard to find anyone who has owned both to compare them.

Okay, well can anyone give me an idea of what PEP ssb power the 2100B will do on 27 mhz? Also, what costs are the replacement vales worth?
If anyone has a 2100B, can they give me an idea of how they perform etc.
Cheers

The 2100B runs a pair of 572B's. I've read that they won't use the Russian tubes, and the American made are about 50 bucks each. I haven't had any personal dealings with them, but I knew a couple guys years ago that used the 2100B with a 101 series Yaesu radio. I believe the pep output was in the 600-700 watt range, probably would do a little more with more drive, but they ran pretty hot at even 600-700. Both of these guys used another fan on the back of the amp. I don't know how long they made the 2100B, but these i'm talking about were made in the 1970s I believe, so they are getting pretty old. Don't know what you gonna use it on, but the 2100B was built to run on a Ham radio, and I would guess you will need an external keyer if your radio doesn't have one. scrapiron

Thanks for the info mate! I would really like to know a bit of history on these amps, etc when were they made and when did Yaesu stop production on them. I will be running this with either an ic 728 or a 706 mk11G. Will these icoms work with a 2100B?? Any info on these amps, no matter how little, will be greatly appreciated. I really like to learn about gear etc. (as most radio people do i suppose!) I read on internet posting that they run at 1200 pep , 800 cw and 600 am. So is this output same as kl 1000 amps?
I hope readers can add their knowledge here!!
Cheers
Andrew
