Hi all,
Got my new 1000P the other day, geez it's bloody huge!! I'm not kidding, it is monstorous! Okay, I fired it up with around 40-60 watts AM and got the expected 700 watts on the built in meter, so that sounds right, and on ssb with a pep of 100watts form radio I was seeing it jump over 1000watts on meter and average around 900 watts. So, I assume this is what I should be getting , mind you, the advertised 1400 watts pep must be be achieved by blowing a soccer whistle into your radio!!I read somewhere ages ago a post by "Hobo" (I think) who said some certain russian tubes were a far better replacement and offered more power. Anyone know of this idea he mentioned, and if so, what were the tubes, where do you get them, how much $$, and most importantly..what power you will see etc. I am still getting use to this new forum look, a bit too sterile looking compared to old one, and it does seem slower (and I have cable!) BUT, I am still a huge fan!!
Cheers
Andrew
