Anybody know why my amp shuts off when keyed up? I just got it the other day. Not too sure on how to operate it but it powers on and all tubes glow and works fine in standby mode. I let it warm up for about an hour. It blows the fuse everytime I key in operate mode. I think it's a short somewhere but was wondering if anyone else has come across this problem...any ifo on how to operate this beast would be greatly appreciated too!!!
Thanks

Not sure if you have the Skipper (4 tubes) or the 300a (6 tubes) but the problem would be the same. On both of these amps one leg of the secondary for the high voltage is not connected in standby. When you key the amp then the power supply is connected. The three most common problems I've found for this are, bad filter capacitor, bad diode or a shorted tube.
