How do I go about changing the roger beep to a fart, or maybe a ping sound? The radio is a Galaxy 2517 base.

As far as I know there is NO WAY to Change the Roger Beep to anything except the Roger Beep but changing the tone is possible.
For the sounds you want you will have to buy a NOISE TOY / SOUND MODULE and have it installed in your radio.

Ok thank you. I had the roger beep in my galaxy 99 changed so it last about 5to7 sec, and made it real high piched. Really is annoying. I like it.
But anyhow I thought there might be a way to change the tone of the beep.

There is a radio tech on I 40 near Arkansaw that can do it, change beep to a fart or make longer like mine, but from where I live it's about 3 hours of a drive to get to him. He will not explain on the phone how it's done. I've heard that on the roger beep line or where all the roger beep componits hook to the circut board you can change out diodes or resisters or something along that line and make different noises depending on what size resistors or diodes you put back in place. Well not to sureof the correct term for the parts. But doing this type thing is what I've heard will change the tone of the roger beep to a low noise or real high pich or fart. I had my beep changed, now it's about 5,6,or 7 sec long and high piched, real annoying. But I've heard this work's. Anybody willing to exsperiment on a radio to find out?

The above mentioned Roger Beep mod DOES NOT CHANGE THE BEEP SOUND TO A "FART" SOUND! Basically all you are doing is changing the tone of the beep.
Even though the tone in some radios CAN be brought down low enough to create a low pitched buzz, it's still a far cry from the actual Donkey-Fart chip that can be had for less money than some "highway" techs charge to alter the original Roger Beep.
On another note---a 5 to 7 second Roger Beep? WOW! Now that's what I call real radio professionalism. Oh well. Kids and their toys. But that's OK because I can tolorate kids buying noise toys far, far longer than I can the kids buying drugs. Lol. God bless the kids and their stupid noise toys. Ya gotta love em!

to start no you did not insult or upset me.
you seem to be hung up on the donkey fart part. he just asked about changing it to a fart, no donkey involved. like you said, after the mod. it is a low buzz. i know i have cut a 'low buzz' or million in my life. you say 'low buzz', i say 'fart'. i don't think either one of us are politically correct on this. let me run, i have a 'low buzz' coming on. |

personally i dont like the beep. I have talked to people where i could barely hear them so I turned the volume up. Then they unkeyed and BEEP followed by a ringing in my ears.
I prefer the fart. I may get me a 5 tone and lower the tone to where it farts 5 times. Of course if my beep lasted for 5 to 7 seconds I would love to hear it fart for 5 to 7 seconds. You may not be able to annoy truckers with it cuz they would probably love it. Speaking of low buzzes I bout ran a guy out of my pickup earlier cuz i kept low buzzing.
