I just purchased a new stonewall jackson base.
It is very simular to the RCI 2990 internally.
The power supply, caps, outputs, etc are exactly the same as the RCI 2990. No SMT here.
I have already modified it to cover the 11 meter band. I was looking to see if anyone had any info on the audio & power mods. Mostly the audio. I would like to open the audio up (remove audio limiting). The radio does not need any more power. It dead keys at 80 watts AM (bird meter) swings to 140 plus. All I want to do is increase the modulation.
============================================
I do have a few quims about the new stonewall radio.
My reference is a RCI 2990DX (SMT radio).
My 2990DX has talkback with level adjust.
The new stonewall does not have any adjustments on the talkback. It is on or off.
That also applies to the echo. Just on & off.
My 2990Dx has varible talkback as well as echo & time adjustments.
Anyway just wanted to pass that info along to those interested in purchasing a stonewall.
Remember, you do not have a choice these days as the 2990DX (SMT) is not longer available. The new version 2995DX does not have echo, time or talkback.
Pretty poor that they would remove these features & charge us more. I myseld would not pay the price for the new 2995DX & loose these features.
Thanks

Buy a M-80 off a internet auction site. It works very well in my Stonewall. No matter where I set the carrier, it swings 200 PEP.
