Just picked one up that has been modified. For some reason it does not reset to 10 meters when turned off. I have pressed FUNC and CALL, but it only converts to the frequency from the channel number and still only covers the CB range. It does not show a band indicator. I am a licensed amatuer and would love to be able to use this in the 10 meter band.

I did read this before I purchased the radio. This radio is post 2002 and has a reset pad and jumpers. No diode to remove. The radio works great, I just don't know how to get the 25-30mhz coverage.

What is going on is your holding the call button down, just push it and let go after your do the same with function....

Once the radio is turned off, it defaults back to the 10meter, after converted, you have to push funct, and then press and hold call(#2).. To go back and forth between freq and channels, press funct, press call(#2)Don't hold it down this time.. To select the band, press call (#2)..

If the radio hasn't been converted yet, you will not get a band shown on the display.. Band being a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j... From the band, it lets you go threw the freq's you want...

The new 2000 and later models have a diffrent channel conversion, take the bottom cover off, and you'll see right behind the mic jack, a small board, maybe about 1 1/2 inch, its small.. take screw out holding it down to chassic, gently flip it over, and move the jumper block over 1 set of pins, then press and hold reset which is the only push button in the middle of that tiny board, hold it for 10 seconds. Put small board back to chassic....
