Rawhide,
Kwik answer would be to check some older volums of the ARRL radio ameture hand book for a cor circuit or carrier operated relay.if i can locate a schematic for one in next few days i will e-mail it to you.by the way, welcome to the forum!

Radio Shack used to have a small transformer that would run the new 12 volt relay you would have to install in this example. I think it is easier to use the keying circuit in this example to key a small 12 volt relay. That would then key the stock 120V relay in the Heathkit. If you need more info I have it somewhere in my files and can dig it out for you.

Cellphone Shack USED to carry a lot of parts. You go in the store and ask for electronics parts and the associate will stand there with a dumb look on his/her face and say I don't think we carry those parts. But please come over here and let me tell you about the specials we have on the latest cameraphone for a small investment of $200.00 and a $500.00 deposit we can set you up with a great monthly plan that will take the place of your radio stuff. Ya wana bet that's not going to happen. Sorry Bruce, I just had to use parts of an old post of your's.

Take it off standby and key your microphone. If it don't key, it needs repair.

rawhide,

what is the keying tube, a 5AQ5?

u know this amp requires about 90-100w to work, and prefers about 130w.

also, it is best to run on 220vac.

does it have the 10 meter mod also.

hope this helps.
