you could try lifting a line like the old PL-02 PLL but if i remember radio shack used some strange chips in thoes radios ........ see if you can find a truth table for the PLL. |

That radio uses crystals. Try the "Plowboys" mod page...maybe something there that can help. |

Deadkey447, Sorry I can't help you with the channel conversion but the only info I have on hand for the TRC-55 I have listed in the Modification List under Tools to the left of the forum here. Hope it helps some. Lon Tech808 |

A trc-55 was my first radio. you will find that the alc transistor is mounted on the board with the 4 buttons on it in the front. its not a very good radio to play with. if you disable the ALC the audio is so distorted its unbelieveable. had to remove the 1st audio stage and convert the PA control to an audio control. also the final isnt good for much either. tune it up and you will probably pop it in a couple of minutes (2scf8) only rated for 6 watts. |

We talk on 26.865. I just acquired this very nice TRC-55, 23 channel. According to Secret CB on cbtricks, I would need a 32.900 xtal, which can be found in a Johnson Messenger 123A. I found a donor radio in the barn & soldered the crystal underneath where I removed a plug-in crystal. Works great! ...I found that the noise blanker actually works! I have not clipped anything. I just use a TUG8, D-104 |
