This has probably been ask before, I'm sure. And I know somebody here is going to say "you'd be money and time ahead to just buy a bla.bla.bla amp" But this is about the hobby and the fun..not what it cost and what you end up with in the end. I want to know does anyone have any information about installing a 2SC2290 or similiar transistor into a Galaxy radio. Like a 44 or 77 or 959? I think it would just be cool to do this for the heck of it.

I remember seeing a schematic for a two pill board (2290s) which was ment to be installed inside of a regular radio. The only problem was the amp causing harmonics internally and lack of a heat sink. You might be able to make a single 1446 or 455 work kind of like the Lincolns do. I believe there is a schematic floating around for that.

Several people do this mod, but I was wondering how I could do it myself. I've put the stinger boards in Galaxy radios before, but I'm not real impressed with them.
