Ok, so to mod the radio, you cut R540 and R539. But do you cut just one end? Or do you cut them out all together? |

Sodapop, You can cut just one end in case you want to take it back stock later or remove them if you want. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN

Thank you Lon. I will leave the one end on. If I don't put it back, it's nice to leave it for some who may want to later on. So is this a good radio? I have never owned one? |

sodapop, as an owner of a ts-5010 since purchasing new over 10 years ago, i can tell you that this is one of the best 10 meter radios around, even though they were manufactured for only a short time. the radio puts out 40 watts on ssb, the receiver is fair and the noise blanker actually works. i've used the radio both mobile and as a base with no problems ever. it will always have a place in my shack. i've owned a 2510 as well, and believe the emperor is right on par with the 2510. i've always prefered the layout of the emperor over the 2510 and you don't have to squint your eyes to read the frequency counter. have fun with your "new" radio. |

Well with my radio collection getting a good start as of late, I should have a great time when the base antenna goes up this spring. Yaesu FT-840, Diesel Night Hawk, TS-5010 and 4 more mobiles coming. The shack is getting full! |

Sodapop - I never bought a TS-5010 becuase I had always heard about spotty trouble with them. Apparently some were made very well, and others were not. The radio was put out to capitalize on the popularity of the HR2510. I've heard that it was supposed to be an improvement, but it never caught on like the 2510 did. It's pretty hard to make a radio as well as Uniden made the HR2510. |

In my opinion it was made just as well! (mine was any way) The problem with the 5010 (in my opinion) was that is wasn't as modifiable as the 2510 BC |

Sodapop - You're still a light weight! You do have a good start though. I hope your TS-5010 turns out to be a good one. Let us know how you like it. |
