Hi, I just accuired a new 2001 vintage Philippine made Uniden Grant LT. Can someone point me to the right place to get mods for this radio? I'd like to do channel, clarifier, 10kc slide and audio mods. Any help greatly appreciated.

73's, Lou

radiohead, go to:ask the tech>>radios base>>cobra 2000gtl modulation mods

i listed MOST of the audio transmit & receiver mods i know of for the grant radios. the mods work on the XL, LT, 148, texas ranger 296 series, & any other base & mobile radios with the same basic board(including other cobra, presisdent, uniden, radio shack & who knows what else). the part #'s are the same in the XL, LT & 148's i've seen, & as far as i've seen, in the other radios, too.
as for channel, clarifier & 10kc mods...
10kc down switch-ground pin 16 of main chip thru a spst switch. cut nothing, just wire to pin or trace at pin, other side to ground.
clarifier-snip either end of r44 & d52.
jump r174.
from back of clarifier knob follow red wire(it's BLUE on newer models) to PC board & remove it & solder to ground.
from back of clarifier knob follow orange wire(it's YELLOW on newer models) to PC board & remove it & solder to pin 3 of mb3756 IC.
for channels:
drill 3 holes in top of case & mount 3 micro SPST switches.
cut the PC trace at pin 14 of main IC & solder a 4.7K 1/4 watt resistor across cut
wire 1 end of 1st switch you installed to pin 11, other end of switch to pin 12
wire 1 end of 2nd switch to pin 10, other end to ground
wire 3rd switch to pin 9, other end to pin 14

there are a few different ways to do clarifier with varying complexity, & differing results. but in conjunction with 10kc mod, this clarifier mod is easiest, & fairly stable.
same with channel mods, this way will give you coverage from 26.815 thru 28+ mhz. there is no way to get lower freqs without going the expo kit route.
these mods (& ones on other thread) should get you excellent results/improvements & keep you busy for a while!
