Hey folks, i have an older 2950. it will key 1 watt and swing about 10 or key 6 and go to about 15. seems that i should be getting more out of it. what can i do to wake it up? it will do about 25 on ssb. i have adjusted the vr's and such inside. and thats all i can get. it also has a recieve problem, the vol is real low i have to turn it all the way up to hear distant station's. any help on these issues is needed.

A simple fix:
Replace R281 (4.7 K) with a 2.2 K value and re-adjust VRs for AM and USB. This boosts the power up to 20 wats AM / 30 Watts USB.

A little more complex:
Replace the two final transistors with 2 MRF477's. Be carefull, the MRF477 does not have the same pin configuration. You will have to cross the pins. (or replace with MRF 497's which are more powerful)
