I have an electrically noisy truck. I have done the noise blanker mods to a 2950 and it was tolerable. Are there any mods to upgrade the noise blanker in a Magnum 357DX?

Slowhand,
I ran a Magnum 357 DX in my '96 Chevy Impala SS (now I run a new Magnum 257 from Copper because I have a problem with the RF deck..but the blue dispaly looks great in this car!). This car is very noisy due to the high performance nature of this car. Here is how I got my receive quiet in this car...
I grounded everything with braided ground strap.
That is, I grounded body panels, hood, trunk, etc. to the frame. I grounded the antenna mount (a trunk lip mount) to the frame. I grounded the radio & RF deck deck chassis to the frame, and I installed a 35 amp DC power noise filter that I got from an online electronics parts house, to accomodate the higher amperage of the Magnum 357 DX.
This made my receive QUIET !

If you have a Ford truck, you may need to go a bit farther and do work on the fuel pump power feed lines that is described at this site
http://97vette.com/sporttrac/rfi_fix/rfi_fix.html

Basically, it says to cut the electrical feed lines to the fuel pump, and splice in a length of wire that is wound around RF chokes, such as these I got from Copper http://www.copperelectronics.com/cgi-bin/checkitout/checkitout.cgi?catalogSTORE:CKIE:prodW40-00000+

If you do this, be sure to use a water resistant connector such a s a shrink seal, to reconnect the splice you make.
