A Friend of mine has a Galaxy Saturn base that has had a Connex Echo board installed. The problem lies in ...When the connex board is turned on it causes a severe feed back into the radio. How do I remove it or fix it without damaging the radio? (Have never worked on connex boards before)

Beeker,
best advice for a connex board is to take it out and use an echo mic if it is really desired.I have had 3 radios with connex boards and first thing I did was remove them. The DM-452 echo mic from Copper is a better and cheaper way to go.

If the connex board is not well grounded to the case of the radio it can give you problems with feedback (i am assuming you dont mean feadback from talkback). If you cant fix it and decide to remove it, DISCONNECT THE POWER CORD AND TURN THE RADIO ON TO BLEED ANY POWER FROM THE RADIO! The connex board has 2 audio leads (one for input and one for output). These leads are spliced between the audio wire from the mic socket. unsolder the input lead from the connex board at the mic socket and unsolder the output lead from the connex board from the audio wire. solder the audio wire to the mic socket. Follow the power wires from the connex board to their source, unsolder or clip them. whichever you choose to do just be sure to tape them up so that they can't short out. Take the connex board out of the radio and your done.

It the board doesn't cause any problems when it is off, I would just leave it in.
