Help please, Anyone know the tune up procedure for this radio? I need to lower dead key and get a little more swing. I need transmit and recieve info. Also any good mods anyone has like a channel exspansion would be nice. I looked at the mod list under tools and the 966 is not there.

the 900 series texas rangers use the EPT0696-10Z chassis, so mods for 949, 959, 2547, 696 should all work!

L42, 44, 43, 40-in that order, for max output.

SSB ALC VR13 adjust for max watts PEP, may have VR17 as SSB power

AM carrier VR14 can be replaced with external control for variable, or set where desired.

AMC VR15 for modulation

VR9 can be adjusted if after power tweaks, RF needle slaps side of meter-it CAN be heard in some radios!

make sure those VR #'s correspond to what function is printed on board 1st, hotwire. but these SHOULD be right #'s.
