Hey Riverat, I have a Palomar 250 which I like very much. It does not need to be modified for 11M operation, hook it up and go with it. I am not sure how much it swings because I have a radio-shack meter that I've been told not to trust because it's crap! It gets out good, but on high power I've been told that it modulates a bit much, but on med and low it works real good. To use it on high you had better turn your mic gain down all the way. If you can get a real reading on what it swings, post it here. I feed mine with a PC68XL that's stock with 4 watts and I think it performs great. Where did you purchase yours from? I did not buy mine from Copper, but I got it real cheap. I am starting to wonder if there are "organizations" out there that make copies of popular amps and sell them under the same name at a cheaper price but also lower quality. I researched the name Palomar on the internet and I discovered that it was a firm that maufactured RF amplifiers until the early 80's and then was sold off or went under or whatever. So who makes them now? There is no information on the unit itself, and I received no manual with mine. I don't mean to ramble on, but the whole thing smells a little fishy. But the bottom line is mine works well for now, we'll see in a year or so what happens. Mr. 307 any input would be appreciated as far as output, transisitors, is it linear or not quite? Happy TXing yall!

Actually I don't own a new Palomar , but rather an old one ( tube type ) I've been out of cb for over 25yrs. Just wanted to pull a couple of radios out of the moth balls & see what was happening . Just hooked up the I-Max 2000 antenna & checked the match 1.1 -1 Not bad !!! Now just hook up the afterburner . Happy Holidays !!

Well then Mr. Riverat, I don't think I can tell you anything you don't already know. I thought tubes went out of style before I was born. I'm sure one of the highly informed people on the forum could tell you a bit more. If they don't respond to you quickly, Type in all caps or tell them that you're a government spy (LOL) and they'll maul you with attention.

That's a dangerous statement to make and one that doesn't do yourself, your customers or others reading it here justice.

Unless of course you might be hiding your (you know where) Feedback rating because you assume(d) it correct. ie: Item #1341645916

If you don't check it, you simply don't know. And in propagating that they are, shame on you.

I've gotten them in new in 10 Meter positions, and even seen them in use that way too!

Since most pics describing are lousy at best:

*** Note: From memory, but believed correct
RM(KLV) MOD.300P/KL300P and MOD.351P/KL400
Remove 4 screws at rear
Slide bottom plate out
With the 4 pins positioned to the left, Pin 1 being the uppermost:
1 - 11 Meter
2 - 11 Meter
3 - 10 Meter
4 - 10 Meter

Pins 1+2 jumpered = 11 Meter
Pins 3+4 jumpered = 10 Meter

Have fun
