It needs no conversion. It is just a regular ol cb amp. Just out of curiosity why do you wanna remove the SSB delay? I think you need it. Is it because of the long delay after you release the key? I hated that with mine. Sometimes I would have to tell the contact not to come back so quick explaining to him the amps delay.

Oh yeah...remove that junk!!

Here's how:

Inside in the left rear quadrant (just a little left and back from tx'ers) is a 33uf cap. You can change it to a 10uf, keep the delay, and it won't interrupt your rx as badly. Be careful making this change....it's easy but if you rush or use too much heat you'll have a mess on your hands

The way they are mounted to the board you cannot clip one leg. To lift one leg you would have to totally disassembel the amp.
Make note of the polarity and clip off the top of the cap gently. Remove the remains leaving the two pins. CAREFULLY solder your new cap and switch there. If when switched out of line your tx chatters, you'll know to add a smaller cap for AM.

I think you can just tie the two together once your remove the cap, but maybe not. I don't remember if I tried that before or not. I remove this from all the amps that are this style. It does cause problems trying to hear someone who comes back real quick to you, you miss some of what they are saying...

if you are using ssb you need the delay, if am is your sole operating mode...there is a 10uf cap beside the keying relay...you cant get to the soulder side of the board...so just pull the cap off by hand, this will leave the "plates" sticking up...some solder would do nicely there...BAM, no delay...you can do the same bit with the pulling off of the cap and leaving the legs...but adding a 2 pos dtsp switch (the kind with 3 prongs on the back)...connect the feed to the center, the drain to one of the others and connect the last prong to the drain through...you guessed it, a replacement 10uf cap...and there you have it...switchable delay.
ps...anyone catches an error in that...please correct me...no feeling will be hurt, id rather know i was wrong than someone burn up an amp on my faulty advice

i found an error myself...its a 22uf cap you are looking for...not a 10uf...a 10uf is what is recomended for a quicker return to recive, however, dont stop to long between word with the 10uf in there, it'll chop on ya

Well you know. I was trying to beat you!

You're right Goat, if you like to talk on SSB you do need the delay. I assumed he was meaning just for AM since he was asking about removing the delay.

I gotta say nice idea about the switch though, never thought of that. I'll have to add that to my list of goodies! Thanks!

yep, it will work but
some times you'll have to add another diode across the relay coil.

you could add a bigger cap like 1000uf add a like a 1meg pot and make it totally adjustable.
or play differant caps smaller uf # less time bigger # more time relay keys.
but please watch polartiy & volts.
you could go with more volt rating, won't heart any thing.
