I need the mod info for this version where there is no place to plug the module in. Where must the module leads be soldered? A sketch would be helpful. crappie |

Uhh, if it's really the "DX" model, with the bottom cover off, turned upside-down with the face of the radio toward you, there should be a 3-pin header (pins sticking out) to the left (your left) of the two pairs of jumper pins, near the left end of the CPU board, directly behind the display. The jumper pins are still there, where they always were on the NO-BATTERY cpu board, they just don't do what they did on the older version. The module has a 3-pin socket (holes) on the end of three wires. There should be only one empty row of 3 pins showing on the rear of the CPU board. If you haven't got the module, it's time to talk to the supplier who sold you the radio. It comes only from them, as far as I can tell, usually packed OUTSIDE the fancy printed radio carton, between it and the outer shipping carton. This ruse is probably to keep the dealer off the hook if somebody OFFICIAL buys the radio. This is another "loophole trick" so the dealer can't be nailed for selling a radio with illegal transmitting capability. Nobody is offering the module alone that I can find. If, on the other hand it came from some LEGIT ham-only dealer, you'll get little more than a dirty look from them on the subject. I can imagine someone calling one of these HAM-ONLY outfits and getting told "It says 10 and 12 meter radio in the magazine ad, on our web site, and on the instruction book! What did you THINK you were buying from us!" 73 |

The very-early DX units did not have the "pig-tail" for the module. You will have to find a dealer that can supply you with the pig-tail and the instructions to install it. I believe Panther Electronics can help: http://panther-electronics.com/ |
