you can do one of two things

1. Add a expro kit 100
that will give you 40 channels above and below the normal 40 cb channels.
or
2.Add a Digi Scan 400 to it and you'll go from
25.999-28.000 MHz

I have a Uniden/President Washington with the Digi Scan and lets me get 25.999-28.000 MHz on it.
Good Luck

madison is like the grant xl:

SPST switch mb8719 pins 11 & 12 to each other
SPST switch mb8719 pin 10 to ground
SPST switch mb8719 pin 9 to IC side of cut trace at pin 14

the 9 to 14 switch gets you .415-.445 on 37-40.

washington is the same but crystal needs to be changed, in fact 99% of mb/rci8719 radios mod for channels this way, just some need xtal swap. MOST BUT NOT ALL mmb8719/mb8734 radios will mod this way too, if you change to mb/rci8719 chip

to get the skipped 'A' channels add a + and/or 10 kc switch, or go with the BIG clarifier mod that gets 15-20kc slide range. it'll cover 12-15 one way & 3-5 the other.

DO NOT DO PIN 14 it has issues, you can cut the trace to pin 13 and install a switch and you will get uniden grant/148/madison (mb8719)

ch / freq
36 27415
37 27425
38 27435
39 27445

it took me 2 yrs to find that mod no one wanted to let it slide out of there wallet if you get my drift. Enjoy

If using pin 13 for channels 41-44 the channels come up on these channels.
Chnl. 33-41
Chnl. 34-42
Chnl. 35-43
Chnl. 36-44
When using pin 13 to get channels 41-44 no bridge resistor is required.
At present it's a little difficult to locate a model L Expo kit, as they are now out of production.
