I have a superstar 121 that is a good radio, "part of the time". It will be doing ok, then all at once the transit and receive will go away. I can tap lightly on the top of the radio and it will come back on. It may do ok for awhile longer and then do it again. I have cleaned the tuner reheated practically every solder joint, but I don't really know what else to check. Apparently something is loose or has a bad connection. Hmmm.

I had a radio losing AM power and the VR pot was bad for am output, similiar issue, I tapped on the VR pot lightly with a plastic stick while keying and it would jump around, replaced it and all is ok now.....Hope this helps a little
