Hi all, My cobra 2000gtl has both meters stuck. Is there a way to free them up? Where can I get the meters? Or have them rebuilt Thanks Rich |

Sometimes you can cut the tape holding the window to the case and pop them apart and VERY, VERY carefully knudge that screw at the bottom of the needle one way or the other to break them loose. The screw will have a colored blob of locktight on it and you need to have a jewelers screwdriver to do it.Make sure it fits just right as these screwheads can strip out very easily!!!! You may have to pick or scrape away some of the locktight to open up the slot for your screwdriver to fit good. Just be very, very careful and with some luck you may get it to free up and work alright.I've done several meters this way and usually they didn't even lose any accuracey! Another way I have freed them up is to put 1 1/2 VDC to them via jumpers very quickly and reverse the polarity going back and forth. This is with the meter unhooked and removed from the radio of course!Sometimes it takes many tries and works and then again, sometimes I have no luck at all! The last effort is also the last thing you'd want to try cause surely this harms the movement, thus screwing up the accuracey also! If you don't wanna try this then I'd go auction shopping, you know where. They appear there quite frequently.Mostly (99%) used tho. Good luck.Slim |

Hi All, I have freed up my meters on my Cobra 2000 Gtl 1. Take the meters out, make note of where the wires go. 2.On the back you will see a hole with a screw, and a half moon slot for zeroing. 3. Take off the tape covering these holes 4.Turn the screw counter clockwise,You may hear a snap it's ok it is just the locktight 5.keep turing counter clockwise to where the meters are free 6.Turn back to the right so it is snug but meters are still free. 7.Cover the hole back with tape,Solder and put back in your done.
