Got a brand new 200 over the weekend. Thinking about doing the challe mod, which involves moving the 1K SMT.

Ok, here's where I'm confused. Some people say just clip the SMT, and solder bridge the pads in the spot above it. Another site tels you to MOVE the 1K to where the empty spot is.

So what do I do? Do I solder bridge or do I move the SMT?

Also, Was planning on upping modulation, and doing a SMALL power tweak. Would this affect the 200 adversely? I've read where some people turned up modulation and power and it caused the radio to die. Would a couple small tweaks hurt it, or would it be best to just do the channel mod and leave it at that?

This is the newer 200 also with the 2290 (I think) power transistors in the back, if it matters any.

I HAVE A 200 FOR A YEAR AND HALF NOW AND IT HAS WORKED PERFECT . EVERYONE I,VE HEARD OF THAT OPENED THEIRS UP HAVE HAD FAILURES . IT IS NOT A RADIO FOR A NON TECH TO MESS WITH . I STRONGLY SUGGEST SENDING IT TO A GOOD TECH AND RESIST THE URGE TO REMOVE COVERS
